Weekends are for singing to the LORD!

If you listened in to our home throughout the day you would hear us singing songs MUCH of the day!  The children just love to sing and it is such a wonderful teaching tool.  We have songs for rising out of bed, getting dressed, brushing teeth, cooking meals, cleaning up toys, tot school time, etc.  We have silly songs and action songs; fast songs and slow songs.  You can probably thank my Daddy for this as he always sang a song for everything... "Garbage night, garbage night, oh what fun it's garbage night..." (It is certainly nothing fancy, but I always smile and joyfully take out the trash as I sing this little song.)

We also have songs for learning Bible verses (usually to a simple tune such as "Mary had a Little Lamb") and biblical character traits.  We have songs to help us to remember to obey God, and songs to thank Him for His help and blessings.  Do not be fooled... I do not hold a degree in music!  In fact, I am completely tone deaf (just ask my hubby - the kiddos are too young to notice the difference yet!).  But, as a mommy, singing songs of praise with my children is one way I can live out the words of Ephesians 5:15-21 with them:
"See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.  Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ..."
Oh how I pray that these short, precious years with my children will be spent wisely.  May I train them to sing to LORD and shout out his praises.

"Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth;
         Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises."
Psalm 98:4
