In Loving Memory: Great Grandpa Connor
Two days ago, my husband's grandpa fell and broke his hip. He survived the surgery and God showed His mercy on the family by giving them some more time to see each other. He died last night. Before he passed, I am told that he reached up towards heaven and said, "I know you, don't I?" He was unresponsive to everyone in the room, but was talking to someone, and I can only wonder if it were Jesus. None of us this side of heaven will know what he really saw or who he was talking to, but one thing I am confident of is the hope we have in Jesus. Congratulations Connor, you finished the race and kept the faith! "Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses" (1 Timothy 6:12)
I am thankful for his faith, his stories, and his love for our children (and their love for him). He did not have much energy these past few years, but he would hang in there as the girls would climb all over him and giggle, giggle, giggle.
And most importantly, I am thankful for our Heavenly Father, who in his great love and mercy sent His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us, so that we may have eternal life.
