It may be hard when you look at these pictures to imagine that these sweet, smiling girls can ever be whiny, grouchy, and disobedient. I can assure you that they are not always the sweethearts that they appear. What a difficult week we had! I cried several times this week with the Lord because I just felt like I was losing the battle with our children. It seemed like all they did all week was say "No", throw things, bite, take things from each other, etc. I felt like I was spending more time disciplining them than anything else. It was tiring and not pleasant for anyone. I was really in need of encouragement, and as only the LORD can, He provided exactly what I needed right when I needed it.
We are studying "Hh is for Harvest" in Tot School (more on that on Tuesday), and I always like to do a concordance search of the Bible just to see how the words or topics we study are used in scripture. Well, I came across these two verses, and they were just what I needed to hear.
"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." ~Hebrews 12:10-12
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." ~Galatians 6:8-10
May I be faithful and not grow weary in disciplining our children and training them up in the way they should go. I commit to praying that God, our Lord of the harvest, at the proper time will produce in their lives righteousness and peace.
