"Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
2 Corintians 9:6-7
God has really laid it on my heart lately to be a good steward of His money and all that he has provided for us. We would love to be debt free (all we have right now is the mortgage) and strive to spend less and give away more. Recently I attended a workshop on couponing (more about this on tomorrow's Frugal Friday blog). I have always clipped coupons, shopped sales, and tried to be wise with spending, but in the workshop I just learned so many tips and tricks to the art of couponing that I have never quite understood before. So I made my shopping list, printed, clipped, and loaded my coupons, and headed to the store. I determined that whatever money I saved with coupons I would return to God (on top of our regular tithe). Total savings this week: $53.92. So this afternoon I went online and donated $53.92 to BSF International. Immediately after making this transaction I went to the mailbox to discover:
1. A check for $25 from a faithful servant of our LORD who said she wanted to bless our family and children.
2. A check for $28.50 from settlement with health insurance.
A grand total of $53.50 - almost what I had donated to God's service!!!
And if you add to it the $1.98 that I made as an Amazon Affiliate today, the total comes to $55.48 (God likes to show off sometimes!).
